RC Dalal's aim of taking art and design education to another level along with his father Mr. Chandrakant Dalal and brothers Mr. Nealesh Dalal and Mr. Yogesh Dalal, made JD Institute's foray into Mumbai in 1988. His innate passion, zeal and dedication led to the expansion of the pioneer institute to 36 different cities. The passion to achieve excellence is shared by the family members and Mrs. Rupal Dalal, who was the Director of Academic Management, will now be upholding the position of Executive Director, supported by Mr. Harsh Dalal as the Director Operations to fill the shoes of his father's legacy.
With a progressive outlook towards life and the fervour to achieve beyond the barriers, he was one of the Co-founders of Indian Film Festival Worldwide (IFFW), an organization devoted to a greater appreciation of Indian cinema. It organizes film festivals across the globe. Major achievements of the organization include India Film Festival Russia (IFFR), India Film Festival Vietnam (IFFV), Bollywood Festival Norway, Bollywood film festival Russia, India Film Festival Poland, Indian panorama at the Moscow International Film Festival. An important aspect of the festival is to generate a discussion on the various aspects of cinema and its impact on society and popular culture.
His interest lay in promoting the art, craft and culture of India on an international platform. Under his supervision, JD Institute organized numerous exhibitions, fashion shows, and other fruitful events to provide students an opportunity to showcase their designs and receive an exposure to design world. He had been an integral part of the makeover process of Hauz Khas village as an up-marketplace for the connoisseur of art and culture. He had been awarded Bhikhuram Jain award for Recognition of Promoting Art.
When there is a symbiotic relationship between passion and profession, one feels accomplished and content. A teacher by heart, he ensured he was accessible and always encouraged students towards fulfillment of their goals. He motivated them to innovate and create groundbreaking designs, by exposing them to plethora of opportunities. He was an eloquent speaker and has represented India on various international platforms as a proud Samaritan.
His vision of JD being recognized at a global level translated into reality. One of the major milestones was the participation of JD Institute at Bollywood Festival Norway as the Fashion Partner, under RC Dalal's supervision. His philanthropist nature is channelized through various CSR activities and he was also the honorary spokesperson at Consortium of Women Entrepreneurs of India. He would address talks on women entrepreneurship, small scale industries and artists below poverty line. Recently, he was awarded 'The Hero to Animal Award' by Poorva Joshipura, Vice President of International Affairs for PETA UK for his major contribution to animal-friendly fashion.
An inherent visionary, he successfully created an academic and culturally diverse student population who will scale to be global and productive citizens of the world of art and design.
