Lawxy (PocketLawyer.com) and WHO are Organising the Legal Development Programme on Road Safety in India

India's leading LegalTech company Lawxy, which also runs PocketLawyer.com, is organising the WHO (World Health Organisation) Legal Development Programme on Road Safety in India.

Road traffic injuries claim more than 1.24 million lives each year and have a huge impact on health and development. Despite taking a massive toll on humans and the economy, which is largely preventable, action to combat this global challenge has been insufficient. Lawxy believes that road safety can be dramatically improved when every component of the system has safety embedded into it as an inherent virtue.

Lawxy is delighted to partner with WHO and committed to make the programme a success. The programme is free of charge for selected members as all expenses will be borne by WHO.

Lawxy is running the programme for four months in 2017 (with the possibility of an extension to cover 2018) and looking to create a pool of highly skilled and motivated professionals (including lawyers, academicians, journalists and doctors) who specialise in road safety and motor accident laws and policy, and can advocate for better laws and regulations in India. To achieve this objective, Lawxy will:

• conduct a series of workshops, classroom-style lessons, interactive sessions and research assignments for the selected professionals;
• contribute to the knowledge (and skills) of selected members;
• support the selected members in drafting, advising and advocating for improved road safety laws and regulations in India;
• provide opportunities for the selected members to interact with key decision makers and stakeholders at various levels in the Government; and
• provide mentorship opportunities for selected members with leading lawyers, academicians and policy professionals.
