Lybrate Launches a Unique Health Platform to Ease Doctor-Patient Connection
DELHI, February 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
The New 'Question and Answer' Platform Empowers Patients to Consult a Trusted Doctor From Anywhere in India Using Their Smartphones
Imagine a utopian world where patients from the remotest areas of the country don't have to hop from one big city to another in search of a good doctor? Or a scenario where patients, who have already spent a large part of their savings in repetitive misdiagnoses, get a platform where they get multiple opinions from top and trusted doctors of India and that too for free? Or people who work day and night in offices and have no option but to do self-medication for health issues could find the best doctors in India right on their smartphones to consult?
Lybrate has taken its first step towards that utopian world where all of this and much more is now possible. India's fastest growing interactive healthcare company has brought a sweeping change in the healthcare domain with the introduction of an easy on-the-go consultation platform for patients, named 'Questions and Answers'. It empowers patients and health enthusiasts to ask a trusted doctor about any health related query on Lybrate's free mobile app on iOS or Android, or on Lybrate.com on the web. With this new platform, patients can get better and seamless healthcare services and have their queries answered without the hassle of traffic, overexpenditure, overdiagnosis or misdiagnosis and repeated medical tests.

The platform works in two ways - Multiple Opinions (Open Questions) and Online Consultation (Private Questions).
Multiple Opinions: After login, the patient can ask any health query anonymously. It can be any health issues he/she might have been troubled with for a long time. Doctors from the required specialty respond to such questions for free. They even respond to other doctor's answer to reinforce patient's confidence. This way the patients get multiple opinions from trusted doctors spread all across the country, right from the comfort of their home.
Online Consultation: Here, the patient can initiate a private discussion with any doctor of his choice. The patient can either decide from the doctor who has answered, or any other doctor he/she deems appropriate. The patient can upload his medical reports and documents, share medical history, pictures and prior medications. They can even have a voice chat with the doctor and send pictures in a manner similar to how they do on WhatsApp.
So if you're a caregiver to your ageing parents, head of a nuclear family, an ultra-busy professional who relies a lot on Google for your healthcare, a differently-abled person who finds it difficult to go to the doctor for follow-ups, or just another patient who has already visited a number of clinics and hospitals and still couldn't find the right solution to your health woes - Lybrate is what you need.
According to a report by researchers at the London School of Economics (LSE), India ranks 3rd globally on web traffic to healthcare related content sites, but in the open web healthcare information is static and dated. Today's consumers look for real time and live response to their queries and Lybrate's Q&A feature addresses this need.
Lybrate already has more than 40,000 doctors from across India registered on the platform, serving lakhs of patients seeking health solutions and suggestions. The platform has already started delivering and we have interesting examples like a patient from Jammu getting paid consultation from a famous doctor in Mumbai, or a patient in Lucknow getting multiple opinions from doctors in Delhi, Mumbai and other metropolitans.
Talking about Lybrate's immense potential in helping patients, Dr. Anil Mehta, a reputed general physician in Delhi, said, "This new feature works just like WhatsApp - I can now respond to patient queries in real time via mobile and in doing so I can quickly treat every day ailments as well as see early detection of major issues. I strongly recommend Lybrate to all my patients."
Dr. Nikita Kothari, a reputed homeopath from Mumbai, shares her experience, "Lybrate's new Q&A feature allows me to answer questions from the general public located all over India. By creating an online reputation through high quality answers to these queries, I am able to build and grow my practice like no other way possible. Lybrate is a win-win situation for both doctors and patients."
Lybrate is founded by Saurabh Arora, a former Facebook mobile data scientist, who shared his vision saying, "By introducing Q&A, we will facilitate a culture where people query doctors directly and get an immediate response - no waiting rooms, no appointments needed. Lybrate's vision is to bring the wealth of country's finest doctors and their expertise to every Indian irrespective of their geography or social standing. We have tasked ourselves to create India's first 'Health-for-all' platform that's easy to use and economically viable, like healthcare should be."
Lybrate has received funding from Nexus Venture Partners, India's leading venture capital fund, with offices in India and Silicon Valley.
