The mobile app is targeted primarily at farmers residing in rural areas of India. Indian farmers do not have many choice of alternate markets and they are not able to sell their produce at best prices within expected time. The farmers will be able to share their produce information along with the pricing, date of produce, and location of availability, contact numbers etc. on the mobile app. The app is designed in such a way that small traders will also be able to utilize the mobile app for finding new customers for the farm produce they are dealing in. The Mandi Trades apps are available on Android, Windows and Apple Phones.
The Mandi Trades suite of apps is a 'Bottom of Pyramid' solution which will empower farmer communities and is in line with the finance minister Arun Jaitley's recent instructions to states to delist fruits and vegetables from the agriculture produce marketing committees to control food inflation.
Seena Edvin who developed the unique concept of 'Farm to Shop App' says the agriculture marketing sector is untouched by technology and requires massive investments for modernization, to reduce wastage and improve efficiency.
