Manmohan Samal inaugurated the India Post Payments Bank on September 1, 2018, in Bhadrak, Orissa after Prime Minister Narendra Modi successfully launched it in New Delhi. The event was graced by State Executive Manager BJP Orissa, honorable Sri Pradeep Nayak. The India Post Payment Banks is launched in a bid to push India's rural population into the formal financial system. The initiative is taken to make banking services even more accessible and affordable and offers a wide range of services.
The event was held up to demonstrate the resourcefulness of having an India post payment bank account. Mr. Manmohan Samal laid emphasis on the ease of making payments through India Post Payment Banks without any liability of maintaining a minimum balance. Other prominent aspects of the event include the three saving accounts offered by India Post Payment Banks which can be opened digitally through India Post Payment Banks app or by post office or by the postman.
Mr. Manmohan Samal reiterated the motto of India Post Payments Banks i.e. 'apka bank, aapke dwar' which clearly signifies the prospect of easy accessibility, approachable, and conveniently located bank. The India Post Payment Banks is launched with the aim of spreading its footprint and leveraging tremendous potential of over 1.5 lakh post offices and more than 3 lakh postal employees in every district, town, and the village of the country.
