Medical Experts at Hairline International to Host a Webinar on PRP Procedure for Pigmentation on November 15

Hairline International Hair and Skin Clinic will host a webinar at its Indiranagar outlet on the use of PRP procedure to deal effectively with Melasma, a dermatological affliction that causes pigmentation in the skin and manifests in the form of blotches on the face. The procedure is of an hour's duration and will be transmitted live online on Tuesday November 15, 2016. It will be conducted by Dr. Kala Vimal, Dermatologist, Hairline International.

Speaking on the procedure to be conducted, Dr. Kala Vimal says, "As with any PRP procedure, blood from the patient is used and the platelets are separated from it. These platelets have growth factors that will bring about a balance in pigments and ensure that the blotches are taken care of. This procedure is usually used in association with other procedures employed in skin rejuvenation techniques. For the webinar, we will be using PRP, along with the derma roller for better results."

Melasma, as a skin ailment accounts for close to 4% of dermatological patients in South East Asia. It primarily occurs due to a change in hormones and is commonly seen among new mothers, post pregnancy. It does not have any harmful health effects but is usually considered a physical imperfection and can be perceived as a social embarrassment. It can occur on the surface of the skin, or deeper or sometimes as a mix of both the dermal and epidermal skin areas.

In the PRP procedure, a concentrated level of platelets is introduced into the affected area with a syringe and this helps even out the pigmentation and result in clear skin. The procedure however must be repeated for 2-3 sessions to be completely effective. Each session is of approximately an hour's duration.
