The MoU will immediately see the Executive MBA Class of Waikato Management School, a triple accredited B-School, spend several days in India later this year, with some sessions hosted at the SPJIMR campus in Mumbai. In November this year, participants of SPJIMR's two-year full time MBA equivalent PGDM programme (accredited by AMBA) will have the opportunity to experience New Zealand during their international exchange.
SPJIMR is a top ranked school of management in the financial centre of Mumbai which works with the vision to 'create knowledge and influence practice by combining original research and thought, innovative pedagogy and proactive industry engagement.'
Waikato Management School is an internationally respected business school, noted for its influential practice, relevant research, quality teaching and commitment to excellence.
The MoU was signed earlier this month on behalf of SPJIMR by Prof. Prem Chandrani, Head of International Relations, and on behalf of Waikato Management School by Prof. Neil Quigley, Vice Chancellor.
Prof. Chandrani said, "We are delighted to have Waikato Management School as our partner in New Zealand. This will offer our faculty an opportunity to collaborate with the Waikato faculty on research and joint teaching, and give our students the experience of studying in New Zealand."
"As SPJIMR builds on its global connections, this MoU will also open new opportunities for students from New Zealand in general and from Waikato in particular to study with us and immerse in one of the fastest growing economies of the world," Prof. Chandrani added.
Professor Deborah Willis, Acting Dean of Waikato Management School, said the agreement will help broaden the experience of both schools' students for the wider benefit of their countries. "Agreements like these provide excellent opportunities for our students to experience business-specific study in different countries," she said.
"India, in particular, is a valuable region to be exploring as trade with New Zealand is continuing to expand, so it's important for our business executives to understand each other's motivations," added Prof. Willis.
