NASSCOM Teams up with SSON and Everest Group to Redefine Hybrid Sourcing as an Industry Standard

NASSCOM, the trade association of the Indian Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, recently announced that they have partnered with the Shared Services & Outsourcing Network (SSON) and Everest Group in order to redefine the term 'hybrid sourcing' as an industry standard.

In addition to redefining 'hybrid sourcing,' these three organisations will work to identify a common profile of hybrid model users, to ascertain where on the scale between captive and outsourced their model lies, and to understand why this combination has been chosen for their organisation.

Traditionally, shared services centres (SSCs) either follow a global in-house centre (GIC) model, also commonly called 'captive,' which means they are a wholly-owned operating subsidiary, or shared services leaders opt for a third-party 'outsourced' model, governed by contractual obligations.  In more recent years, however, a growing number of shared services leaders identify their shared service operations as a 'hybrid' model.

Given the evolution of the shared services industry in which traditional functional and operational siloes are continuously broken down, it makes sense that leaders are now looking for a balanced model. However, the issue is that there is no singular definition of hybrid sourcing and no clear understanding of its common denominators - aside from being in the grey area between GIC/captive and outsourced.

NASSCOM, who represents and sets the tone for public policy for the Indian software industry, has chosen the global shared services and outsourcing conference and intelligence company, SSON, and the research and consulting company, Everest Group, to survey the 'hybrid' community to address the issue due to the extensive work, credibility and experience of both organisations in the sector.

Practitioner leaders of the shared services and outsourcing space are invited to complete the Hybrid Sourcing Adoption Trends in GICs/Shared Services - 2014 Survey. The survey will be available until Friday, October 24, 2014.
