Now, Get Rid of Knee Pain (osteoarthritis) Without Surgery at MediVision
BENGALURU, July 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
When Mrs. Sujata K (name changed), a 50-year-old active female, started experiencing knee pain, her daily routine was affected. It hurt most when she was weight-bearing, which she would engage in for most of the day as she was a supervisor at a store that had a flight of stairs. The pain had set in gradually and she felt that her knee was now getting stiff.
She visited a doctor who gave her pain killers, which had helped ease things, but she wanted to know if there was anything that could be done to get at the underlying cause of the problem. She then decided to visit an osteopath. After examining her knee, her osteopath explained that in all probability she had developed arthritis in her knee.
Her worst fears came true when the X-ray showed early osteoporosis of bones and bilateral osteoarthritis. A MRI showed osteoarthritis (OA) in both knees with cartilage loss in the articular surface of bones.
OA is a degenerative synovial joint disease involving cartilage loss, synovial inflammation, subchondral bone lesions and meniscus extrusion. Knee OA is the most common form of joint disease and the major cause of pain and physical disability among middle-aged and elderly people. Therefore, current treatment strategies aim to alleviate joint pain, reduce physical disability and limit the progression of joint damage and most importantly regenerate the lost cartilage and restore joint space.
She consulted with her orthopedist who after seeing the MRI, suggested total knee replacement surgery. But she was reluctant for surgery. At the initial evaluation the following problems were noted: weak quad, hip abductors, and hip extensors; swelling in both knees.
She then paid a visit to MediVision and, after consultation, a Cytotron treatment was planned by Dr. M. Nagaraja at MediVision, Marthahalli, Bangalore. A plan of action was initiated for 21 days, which included daily one hour RFQMR (Cytotron) treatment for knee, physiotherapy for muscle strengthening and lower extremity stretching. RFQMR (Cytotron) therapy increases circulation in tissues and thus reduces swelling, relieves chronic pain and arthritis, as well as improves range of motion. It helps in soft-tissue repair, enhances collagen production in connective tissue beneficial to regenerate the cartilage in arthritis of all kinds.
In Cytotron therapy, highly complex Quantum Magnetic Fields can be precisely focused on the target tissues with the help of laser guides. These are non-thermal, non-ionizing and have no known side effects. It is non-invasive, painless and safe.
The normal cells are not influenced by the RFQMR exposure as the Magnetic Field Generators are aimed at the target tissue only.
The patient was assessed on weekly basis. At the end of 1st week, she was able to walk for 30 minutes without pain.
After 3 weeks, in addition to walking, the patient did squats and step downs. She was able to progress her squats and step downs safely. At the end of 3 months, she was able to return to daily walking for greater than 90 minutes and she no longer had knee pain. No surgical intervention was needed.
