On World Ethnic Day Mirraw Donates Sarees to Women in Dharavi
Mumbai, June 22,2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Mumbai based Mirraw.com donates sarees to women in Dharavi - world's largest slum colony. Dharavi was founded in the late 1800's during the British era. The slum grew in population due to the growth in industries in then Bombay.
19th of June was World Ethnic Day and Mirraw wanted to do its bit towards the society. Sarees are a traditional wear of India and offering them to the women in Dharavi has helped these women in a touching way. They realized that there are people who truly are concerned about their state of living and want to make a difference.
Mirraw's co-founder Shailesh Jain was quoted saying, "Dharavi forms an integral part of our city and women from this area endure a lot to bring up their families. We felt we could thank them in a little way by offering them their favorite attire. It's been a lovely feel to see a smile on their faces more so during these heavy rains which made the task all the more challenging and fulfilling. We hope we can do this in a much larger way in the near future."
