Praguna, in Partnership With RTITB UK, is Launching a Competition to Find the Safest and Most Efficient Forklift Operator in India
The initiative was launched at the India Warehousing Show, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The Forklift Operator of the Year - India will recognize and celebrate the skills and working practices of the best forklift truck operators in the country.

"The competition represents an excellent opportunity for warehouses, distribution centres and manufacturing centres to identify themselves and their workforce as pioneers of forklift related safety and efficiency in the country. It also gives the logistics industry a moment to pause and celebrate the excellent and often anonymous contribution of the logistics workforce to making the wheels of the economy turn," explains Saurabh Goyal, Managing Director, ThinkLink.
Open to all forklift operators, the competition aims to recognize and reward highly skilled and safety conscious operators from all over India.
"Lift truck operators are often blamed for accidents and delays, but Forklift Operator of the Year - India aims to change this, by focusing on the positive impact of the job," adds Laura Nelson, Managing Director of RTITB. "The country's best operators will compete in practical lift truck challenges, showing how safely and efficiently they operate their lift trucks."
The competition will be conducted over two rounds. The first round, consisting of regional heats, will happen in September in four locations across India (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Chennai), followed by the Grand Finalé in November at the Praguṇa Centre at Dharuhera, Haryana. Eight national finalists will compete for the title of Forklift Operator of the Year - India. Entry to the competition is free and ThinkLink is encouraging the employers to nominate their very best lift truck operators.
Praguna is the first vocational initiative in India to focus on certification for lift truck operators and has an exclusive accreditation partnership with UK's leading workplace transport accrediting body, RTITB. The two organisations hope that the introduction of the prestigious awards will encourage Indian lift truck operators to excel and bring a new sense of pride to the job.
RTITB runs a Forklift Operator of the Year competition in the UK, which is recognized as the most coveted forklift operator award available in the UK, recognizing both the operator and their employer.
"A national competition gives all operators an incentive to work even better at their jobs, to achieve the prestigious status of India's best lift truck operator," says Hitesh Gupta, Vice President responsible for the development of the Praguna product at ThinkLink Learning.
There has already been overwhelming support from the industry for this event. NSDC and World Skills India has shown their support and joined hands with Praguna as Skills Partner. Nilkamal, Jungheinrich and CHEP have come on board as official partners, while Rhenus Logistics and TVS Logistics have lent their support on organizing the regional heats at multiple locations. ReedManch, ForkliftAction.com and CargoConnect will be promoting the event as Media Partners.
