RGBSI and Kongu Engineering College Join Hands to Set up World Class Centre of Excellence in Manufacturing Quality for Skill Development

With the global industry eyeing India and Make in India Initiative by Government, there will be a definite rise in demand of skilled personnel in manufacturing quality, resulting in 100 million additional jobs by 2022 in the manufacturing sector.

Keeping this growing demand in view, Kongu Engineering College (KEC) joined hands with MNC RGBSI (Rapid Global Business Solutions Inc. USA) to create Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Manufacturing Quality, which will be the first such regional centre. The CoE will impart programs on skill development in areas of manufacturing quality as per the global standards and established processes. These programs will lead to high employability for students and bring practical industry experience to the classroom.

Dr. Singh, President, Global CEO, RGBS Inc. USA and Thiru V K Muthusamy, Correspondent, Kongu Engineering College, inaugurated CoE Manufacturing Quality for the students.

In addition, this CoE in Manufacturing Quality will also provide certification opportunities in areas such as APQP, PPAP and 8Ds, among others.

RGBSI will be Assisting Kongu Engineering College with developing and imparting programs on Quality Lifecycle Management for skills development that will meet the growing demand of manpower in the manufacturing segment.

Elaborating on the need for such an initiative, Prof. Kuppuswami, Principal, KEC along with Dr. Nanua Singh, President, RGBSI, explained, "Enhancing the global competitiveness of the Indian manufacturing sector and an increase in the manufacturing sector growth, there is a huge demand for skilled resources. Engineering colleges need to keep pace with the industry to create skilled engineers and employment opportunities from the beginning itself. In order to achieve this, such collaborations between world class companies like RGBSI with academic institutions can go a long way in imparting the much needed skill and bring practical industry experience to the classroom."

Dr. Singh, who was also a Professor at IIT, Delhi says, "I am determined to bring change and bring these initiatives to develop Manufacturing Quality skills and to make them industry-ready. Although there are millions of industries across the country, yet India's contribution to the global production is a mere 2-3 percent and this must be increased to over 10% in the next few years of our economic growth. Recently, the Indian government has been putting a lot of efforts to improve India's image as a manufacturing destination at global level and establishing the country as a viable export house."

Skill development is one of the key focus areas of the Government of India. This has also been reflected with the formation of the National Policy on Skill Development under Ministry of Labour and Employment.
