9th Edition Witnesses Over 25% Increase in Visitors Over Last Year 

UBM India successfully concluded the 9th International Fire & Security Exhibition and Conference (IFSEC) India Expo 2015, a three-day security and fire safety show (10th-12th December) in Delhi. The show brought together internationally renowned exhibitors, consultants, business experts and key government officials on one common platform, to discuss global best practices and seek solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in the security and fire safety industry.

In addition to the expo, UBM India hosted a one-day conference along with panel discussions based on the theme of 'SAFE CITIES'.

  • The conference apprised the audience of how security solution providers should work collaboratively with other stakeholders towards developing new-age solutions for securing people, inventory and critical infrastructure. Several policy measures were also discussed keeping in mind the advancements and applications made in smart technologies in various cities around the world.
  • The present level of disaster preparedness of Indian cities has also been taken up at the conference with the recent Chennai floods and its handling by the authorities lending a suitable setting to derive both hypothesis as well as improvement areas on which disaster management authorities could work upon, going forward. The need for developing response mechanism for communication needs during emergencies was one of the central themes of the session and received unequivocal support from the panel.
  • The possibilities which IoT, the critical technology fuelling the smart city dream, could help unlock for security applications was also part of the conference's major highlights. The need to develop inter-disciplinary alliances as well as enabling through added functionality management of invasiveness in IoT-based applications has also been emphasized during the session.
  • The panel discussion on security in public transport has also been one of the liveliest with the need of face-recognition and 360 degree cameras being equally underscored by panellists in instances like baggage theft and nabbing criminals accessing the public transport system while also posing danger to fellow passengers.
