Eradicating Footwear Dampness with Skyless Base
Skyless Design's first product, Skyless Base, is a footwear dryer that provides superior drying and dehumidifying treatment to all shoes. Fitting perfectly into any shoe cabinet with its compact and lightweight frame, it can fully dry shoes at less than 20 minutes. Instead of using high temperatures, Skyless Base applies a mixture of cold and dry air to handle the drying process to achieve optimal temperatures without causing damage from excessive heat. Featuring lab-tested absorbent materials and an in-built UV system, Skyless Base can offer UV-disinfection and deodorisation capabilities. Equipped with ambient moisture sensors, it monitors and maintains a low-humidity environment, which can be controlled via the user's App.
Generating Greater Market Exposure at the HKTDC Fair
According to Matthew, even with novel and attractive products, start-ups typically face a dearth of public visibility, investor networks and financing access. In a bid to improve the situation faced by Skyless Design and many similar firms, trade exhibition is one of the best tools for them. At the Hong Kong Electronics Fair organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) in October last year, the unique Skyless Base footwear dryer caught the attention of many trade visitors. Through the connections made at the fair, Skyless Design managed to achieve collaborations with multiple hotel groups in Hong Kong and Macau to install Skyless Base in every room as a value-added service. Additionally, the company's market reach expanded into several foreign countries with buyers from Thailand, India and Canada.
