Candidates, who have been offered admission to what will be the 36th batch of SPJIMR's PGDM, were informed about their selection on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. They will receive their offer letter by courier at their registered address as provided in the application form, along with an acceptance letter and a letter that can be used with applications for bank loans. The offer letter and other documents can also be downloaded from the admissions portal at https://spjimr-pgdm.formistry.com/
SPJIMR announced that applicants have to submit acceptance of the offer on the admissions portal by Saturday, March 19, 2016, along with payment of the initial fee amount of Rs. 50,000. The payment details are to be entered by the candidates on the admissions portal. A physical copy of the acceptance letter, duly signed by the accepting candidate, is to reach SPJIMR by Thursday, March 24, 2016.
Dr. Vasant Sivaraman, Chairperson of the PGDM programme said, "With SPJIMR's distinct admissions process, once again, we were able to conduct up to two interviews each for a large number of candidates. With assessment by multiple faculty members, we have viewed candidates from different lenses and arrived at a merit list that is diverse and reflects what SPJIMR stands for. We look forward to welcoming the new batch on campus."
Prof. Bindu Kulkarni, Associate Programme Head, PGDM, said, "We are looking forward to welcoming a diverse, bright batch on campus on Monday, June 6, 2016, when the programme commences with a formal orientation ceremony."
She said that candidates will get access to a pre-foundation module in May, which will introduce them to some basic courses required for the PGDM programme. Candidates now need to finish a few formalities to secure admission, such as filling in the acceptance form, couriering it to the SPJIMR PGDM admissions office and paying of fees within the stipulated period, Prof. Kulkarni added.
SPJIMR's merit list is to fill the 240 seats for the PGDM programme, which is noted for delivering social sensitivity with global relevance. Along with the merit list, SPJIMR also put out a waiting list as part of its standard process of admissions. Those named in the merit list will move up in the order of their ranking in case anyone offered admission opts out.
SPJIMR's PGDM programme has been strengthened with new elements like a course on Design Thinking to help participants address unstructured problems. Design Thinking is an immersive and creative process which follows a human-centered approach of devising innovative solutions to unstructured problems for business and communities. The cornerstones of this process include empathising with customers, followed by deep insighting, ideation and rapid prototyping.
Participants will also have the opportunity to choose a minor specialisation along with greater flexibility to change their main or 'major' specialisation in the second year.
SPJIMR picked its candidates from a large, diversified applicant pool. The Institute is amongst the few that interviewed a large number of applicants in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
SPJIMR has a sanctioned intake of 240 candidates for the PGDM programme, and is permitted to take 15 percent above this as foreign nationals, which includes Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs). The list of foreign nationals and PIOs offered admissions will be released later, SPJIMR said.
