Sterlite Power, a leading Indian power company, won two transmission projects in the auction concluded in May 2017. Sterlite Power is the first Indian power company to develop transmission projects in Brazil.

Sterlite Power's Build-Own-Operate (BOO) projects include a 114 kms 230 KV transmission line in the state of Rio Grande de Sul and a 145 kms 230 KV line in the state of Pernambuco.

In line with the vision of building a strong local team, Sterlite Power has recently inducted two highly experienced industry professionals, Mr. Charles Lagana Putz and Mr. José Luiz Alquéres as Advisory Board members for the Brazilian operations.

Mr. Putz, currently a Partner at Rio Bravo Investimentos Ltda., has led multiple large-scale assignments in a career spanning over three decades. Mr. Putz was CEO and President Brazil of Namisa Nacional Minérios, Founding Partner of Verena Ventures, CFO Brazil of Brasil Telecom S/A. and CFO Brazil of Telefonica Empresas S.A. Mr. Putz has multiple degrees in business management including Post-Graduation in Business Management from FGV - Fundacao Getulio Vargas, MBA from IMD Switzerland and an Advanced Management Programme from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Alquéres is currently a Partner / Director at JLA - JL Alquéres Consultores Associados Ltda and has had a distinguished career spanning over 50 years with leading energy companies. Mr. Alquéres has served as National Secretary of Energy, CEO of Light Servicos de Eletricidade S.A., CEO of Alstom Brasil Energia e Transporte Ltda, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Eletobras - Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras S.A. and Managing Director of BNDESPAR and Cia Bozano Simonsen. Mr. Alquéres is a Civil Engineer Post-Graduate in Regional Planning from OEA Brazil and a Post-Graduate in Electric Energy Expansion Planning from Chicago University, USA.
