Tarun Vijay to Address the National Conference on Survey and Mapping

Tarun Vijay, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), who has been spearheading issues related to mapping for the last couple of years, will be addressing the national conference on survey and mapping, 'Survey India 2014', on July 9, as the chief guest. He will raise the issue of national security and violations of defence guidelines, affecting sensitive military installations. Against the backdrop of the recent push by the government of India on infrastructure development, survey and mapping gains further importance as it forms the basic data for any planning and project implementation.
Sharing his views on this, Tarun Vijay said, "Survey and mapping has an important role in national projects like R-APDRP, NLRMP, slum rehabilitation and more." He further added that the success of land records' computerization and mapping in some of the states like Gujarat needs to be studied and replicated across the country.
He emphasized that he is willing to take up the cause of the survey and mapping industry to ensure that there is an enabling regulatory framework while ensuring that the national security concerns are not jeopardized.
Survey India 2014 is scheduled to be held on 9th-10th of July at EROS Hotel (Hilton), New Delhi.
