Maninderpal Singh and Persistent Systems Win TechGig's 1st National Code Gladiators Contest
Revealing hidden talent
So, do you know the best coders in your company? And which companies have the best coder? Now 64 companies do, thanks to the recently concluded TechGig Code Gladiators Championships - the national coding contest that championed undiscovered gems who would otherwise have been relegated to the background because they weren't from a big MNC or hadn't studied at an IIT.
TechGig was able to reveal the best coders based on real competency who may have been overlooked due to a lack of opportunity. In a clear meritocratic process, irrespective of rank, degree, position or stature, two months of battles amongst 64 companies and 36,000 coders for India's best coder and coding company finally culminated in the victories of Maninderpal Singh and Persistent Systems winning the 1st National TechGig Code Gladiators Contest.
Before winning, Maninderpal Singh was just one of the 36,000 coders across India who logged into TechGig.com with just a dream in their their hearts - to compete and be recognised for their talent and skill in coding - and now he stands at the pinnacle of achievement as India's best coder. The other victors were Dilip Singh and Sonu Singal who came in second and third respectively.
While receiving his Rs 1.5 lakh cash prize award, Maninderpal said, "It feels amazing to have won India's Best Code Gladiator award. It was an awesome feeling watching CTO's of famous IT companies and hundreds of coders come together with varied experience to compete. I would like to thank my company Drishti Soft and praise TechGig for organising such a well-managed event that helped coders realise their potential and gain exposure in the IT industry."

The biggest isn't necessarily the best
News of the IT industry seldom highlights anyone other than the giant MNCs. But it was Persistent Systems, a relatively smaller company, which rose to the challenge and proved to the nation that they were truly India's coding powerhouse. From the best coders based on the combined performance of all the participants from each of the 64 companies that participated, Persistent Systems was declared 'the company with the best coders'.
Speaking about the Code Gladiators contest, Nitinchandra Shende, Head of Talent Management, Persistent Systems, said, "The biggest benefit of Code Gladiators is assessments. Competition is a way of life. And employees face it from time to time. That keeps up the excitement. Code Gladiators has raised this bar and taken it to the next level of excitement. As an organisation, the event helped us both in our internal engagement, as well as benchmarking ourselves against the peer group companies. I would like to acknowledge the tremendous effort put in by the organiser and their teams. This is certainly a good beginning. In the coming years, I would like to see Code Gladiators evolve as the de-facto platform for techies across the globe to compete for the shield."
