The new partnership, called think3d.vc, offers selected start-ups capital investments, free access to 3D printing and scanning equipment and mentoring. think3D is in charge of locating and evaluating potential start-ups in India. The successful applicants shall enter one of the three dedicated programs (Campus, Incubator and Accelerator) established by iMakr.vc depending on the stage of development, amount of capital required and scope of the project.
The campus program is for people who want to be part of the 3D printing revolution but don't have a specific idea to execute. The Incubator program is for people with an idea or project but lack a complete business plan and a development team. The Accelerator program is for start-ups with project, business plan and team in place but need further financial support in order to proceed to the next stage of development. Incubation of the projects can happen both at think3D office and iMakr office.
With this partnership, these two companies hope to tap into the fast growing industry which is poised to reach $16.2 billion dollars by 2018 from the current $3.8 billion globally, growing at an annual rate of 45.7% and give a much needed boost to the 3D printing industry in India.
