TRA Managing Partner Rastogi Rebrands Tech Law and Policy Practice to 'Ikigai'
NEW DELHI, September 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --
Managing Partner at TRA Law, Anirudh Rastogi, has launched Ikigai Law to sharpen the practice focus on technology and innovation-led businesses. Ikigai, a Japanese philosophy, is the intersection of what one is good at (skills), what one loves doing (passion) and what the world needs - the 'reason for being'. Rastogi says, "We believe that our work stands at this intersection, in representing impactful businesses and technologies that bring value to the world around us." Rastogi's role in the finalisation of recently issued guidelines for the 'operation of drones', called 'pioneering' by the Economic Times, which is clearly an example of this.
Change agents helping Companies do cutting-edge work
Rastogi and his team of 14 lawyers at Ikigai were instrumental in setting up Koinex, India's first multi-crypto exchange and advising on Team Indus' spacecraft launch contract with ISRO. Amongst other technology companies, his team has worked with Unicorn startups such as food-delivery platform Swiggy and online -education platform Udacity, and cutting-edge technology ventures such as the Hyperloop India-student team. They have a heavy client base in the e-commerce, fin-tech and health-tech sectors, with practices ranging from investments, corporate law, litigation, IP and public policy. The firm currently represents four crypto-exchanges in the Supreme Court in a petition challenging the RBI's ban on banking for the crypto industry.
Harvard Alumni - Bridging the gap between Law and Policy
Rastogi will lead the investments and general corporate team at the firm and recently advised on Flyrobe's Series B fundraise from Sequoia and IDG Ventures. Nehaa Chaudhari who led Public Policy at TRA Law will continue to lead the same team at Ikigai Law. The team has been heavily involved in the regulatory developments around data privacy, blockchain, and drones in India. Harvard alums Rastogi and Chaudhari's public policy practice has been playing an important role in consolidating industry opinion on the recently issued draft data protection bill for submission to the government. Rastogi believes that public policy is 'one part law and two part communication' and effective representation requires expertise in both. Ishita Shome, an attorney with multi-jurisdictional experience of working in Dubai and the US, has recently joined the Ikigai team to focus on clients based in the UAE and broader MENA region.
Rastogi was named Achiever of the Year 2017 by Business World and is the author of a book on cyber laws.
