The Award Honours Exemplary Talent Across the State's Retail Jewellery Business
In an endeavour to shine a spotlight on the outstanding efforts of individuals and organisations in the retail jewellery business in Tamil Nadu, UBM India launched the Tamil Nadu Retail Jewellers Awards (TN RJA) and announced the winners on October 8, 2016 at a glittering ceremony at The Leela, Chennai. The awards were given in the presence of industry stalwarts and comprised categories such as 'Design Excellence', 'Best Print Ad', 'Best Marketing Campaign', 'Store of the Year', 'Exemplary Customer Service', 'Best Retail Team of the Year', among others. The awards were interspersed with sequences of a fashion show which showcased astonishing pieces of jewellery, capturing the trends of the season. The TN RJA was held side-by-side with the Gems and Jewellery India International Exhibition (GJIIE), India's second largest expo within the fraternity.

A unique initiative by UBM India, the TN RJA drew out the best of the state's talent in the industry - from the commercial hubs to the deep interiors - through a methodical, laborious process of selection by an eminent jury comprising Mr. Sultan Mohideen H M, Ms. Sheeba Prince and Mr. Mukesh Jain who sifted through an impressive number of nominations. The extensive award categories were crafted, keeping in mind the diverse activities of Tamil Nadu's retail jewellery industry. With the state continuing its upward graph as one of the leading consumers of gold within the country, the TN RJA is dedicated specially to the Retail Jewellers of Tamil Nadu.
With more than 500 jewellery retailers, manufacturers, and HNIs in attendance, the awards night also comprised of a fashion show with show stoppers like Femina Miss India winners such as Aafreen Rachel Vaz (Femina Miss India Supranational 2015), Sushrii Shreya Mishra, Srinidhi Shetty and Aradhana Buragohain. With the region having an enviable legacy in ornaments including Temple Nakshi Jewellery, Stone Studded Jewellery, and Bridal Jewellery such as Manga Malai, Kasu Mala and Pachhi Designs, the audience got a glimpse of the same at the glamorous fashion show
