University of Mumbai, Department of Life Long Learning & Extension (DLLE) in association with Maxell Foundation has announced a program where students would be assisted to ideate and implement their own business ideas. This would be followed by an extensive workshop for two days on 'Entrepreneurship' for select students. The program will be a part of the "Maxplore - Exploring Entrepreneurship" initiative which is founded with a philosophy of 'Education should not necessarily lead to Employment, but it must also lead to Entrepreneurship.'

The 1st phase will be rolled out across three colleges in Mumbai on 15th December, 2014 at Ramnarian Ruia College, Matunga followed by Powai and Thane on the 17th and 19th December respectively. Over 1,000 students from 30 different colleges in the city would be participating in the initiative.
Ms Shaina NC, National Spokesperson BJP, said, "We need to fundamentally look at our education system and if required make fundamental changes to encourage entrepreneurship from college level itself. Our universities should prompt the students to think with open mind to be job creators and participate in the nation-building campaign of 'Make in India'."
Shri Vijay Kumar Gautam, IAS, Commissioner, Employment, Self Employment, Skill Development and Director(Training), Government of Maharashtra complimented the efforts and mentioned that such programs should be rolled out across Maharashtra
Inaugurating the Maxplore initiative, Mr. Nitin Potdar, Corporate Lawyer and Founder Trustee Maxell Foundation, said, "In the age of globalization and Information Technology, where 'Idea is Capital' it is important that our youth become job creators and not just job seekers. The phase 2 of the initiave would involve handholding of the innoviative ideas by professionals from finance, HR, legal and marketing to assist students in preparing their business strategies. We invite other colleges to join us in this initiative and aim to reach out to 20,000 students across 200 colleges associated with Mumbai University's Department of Long Learning & Extension by 2015."
