UBM India, organisers of South Asia's leading travel trade show, SATTE, today flagged off the 4th edition of SATTE Mumbai West at the World Trade Centre , Mumbai. The two-day event (18-19 August) was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Ram Shinde, Minister of State, Maharashtra.

SATTE Mumbai West, catering primarily to the travel trade community of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, saw participation from national and international tourism boards, DMCs, travel agents and tour operators, airlines, OTAs, hotels and resorts and IT companies, among others. Niche product and service providers from the industry will also participate to connect with potential business aides and build stronger partnerships within the region through this platform.

The sessions at the conference further highlighted Mumbai as an established gateway, and brought to the forefront the emergence of tier II cities such as Surat, Nasik and Nagpur as major emerging markets in the region.
The first panel discussion, Western India: Untapped Domestic Tourism?, discussed the pressing issues that plague domestic tourism, a sector that is growing exponentially year on year. Moderated by Murari Mohan Jha, and a panel comprising Satish Soni, Joint MD, MTDC; Pawan Jain, Deputy Director (Investments), Rajasthan Tourism; Abhijit Patil , Chairman, Raja Rani Travels; Yusuf Poonawala, Head - Bharat Dekho, Cox & Kings, Pandurang Taware, Managing Director, Agri Tourism Development Corporation the discussion touched upon the efforts being taken by both public and private sectors to further boost domestic movement.
The second panel discussion, Mumbai: Are we utilizing the optimum potential of the Indian Outbound?, focused on the best practices to further boost outbound tourism from India. Moderated by Ajay Prakash, Founder President, IIPT India, the panel consisted of Sheetal Munshaw Wadhwa, Director, Atout France India; Carl Vaz, Director, Dubai DTCM; Sudhir Patil, Founder & MD, Veena World and Karan Anand, Head - Relationships, Cox & Kings. The esteemed panelists debated the best ways to position destinations to the Indian traveller, as well as further outbound so as to catapult this segment of tourism to its pinnacle.
