The Women's Day 2016 celebrations at CODS (Centre for Obesity & Digestive Surgery) was marked with an air of exultation and sweet memories as over 60 jubilant women proudly regaled their success stories and expressed their deep gratitude to Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala, lovingly known amongst patients as Dr. Muffi.

Not without a reason; these women have been part of the CODS family since 2006. Having undergone Bariatric surgery under Dr. Muffi, they have been virtually living in newly-sculpted bodies ever since, standing testimony to the fact that Bariatric surgery is a long-term solution to obesity.
The stories that were shared were soul-stirring and intensely emotional. From Bhavna becoming her husband's 'best model' and muse, to Neelam practically being able to run after her kids and matching their boundless stamina after having lost 70 kgs. What really stole the show at the celebrations were women who actually qualified for the Centurion Awards - a special recognition given to those who have shed 100 or more kilograms and have still maintained their new weight. Another CODS prodigy, Maria Koliah stood tall with her bouncy baby boy whom she delivered a year after undergoing surgery that corrected her obesity, thereby helping her conceive.
One Centurion Award recipient ended the evening on a high note dedicating the song 'I will survive' to all the women who made it through this weight-loss journey.
