A public school teacher for 31 years, Rafe Esquith has lead his class of fifth graders of Room 56 at Hobart Elementary School, a high-poverty school in Los Angeles, to attend the finest colleges in the world. The school, where most students drop out before high-school, his students go to top colleges.

Author of several bestselling books like 'Real Talk for Real Teachers' and 'Teach Like Your Hair's on Fire', Rafe is the only K-12 teacher in history to be honored with 'National Medal of the Arts' by the President in 2003. He is also an honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire and a recipient of Compassion in Action Award by the Dalai Lama.

For years, he has run the famous Shakespeare Program, where all his students appear in at least one full length production a year.

In a conversation with Dr. Nellie Deutsch, he will share his thoughts about the American Education System, the Common Cores, and other Orwellian nightmares, and how they are driving some of the finest educators out of the profession after years of dedicated and effective service.

Rafe, through his personal experiences of teaching in Room 56, will mentor teachers on how they can continue to do a good job and have fun in spite of The System.

Dr. Nellie Deutsch, a well-known education expert, will present this session on WizIQ Conversations. For more details and participating in the live conversation, visit: http://go.wiziq.com/2p56.
