100 Day Challenge for Clean Water in Africa

MATTESON, Ill., Nov. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- 3000 children in Africa die every day from diseases spread through drinking contaminated water. Robin Moore, a donor and partner of The Joseph Assignment Global Initiative, is doing something about it. She has launched the 100 Day Challenge for Clean Water in Africa. She seeks donations from family, friends, and others concerned about the plight of these children to partner with The Joseph Assignment Global Initiative effort to ship two well drilling machines to Ghana, Africa, in order to effectively increase access to clean drinking water needed to save lives.

To construct a clean water well, The Joseph Assignment Global Initiative currently has to contract with a local (Ghana) company, and be subject to exorbitant costs associated with overseas construction. The economic downtown, causing the JAGI to experience a decline in donor contributions, greatly decreased its ability to meet exorbitant costs of local contractors. These fiscal and logistical realities necessitated the JAGI Board and Strategic Planning Team to develop more creative approaches for these trying times. They raised money and negotiated with an American company in Ohio to allow them to place two well drilling machines on lay-away. Making payments on a bi-weekly basis, they were able to purchase two well drilling machines and two trucks.  Now, the well drilling machines need to be shipped to Ghana and Robin Moore wants to help get them there.

"The well drilling companies in Ghana continued to raise their fees and we felt restricted; yet we are determined to provide clean water to these precious children and their families.  When Robin approached us about her desire to help us get the well drilling machines there we were overjoyed someone understood the importance of the work we do for those in need."

Ghana is located in Sub-Saharan Africa.  People living in rural areas continue to be disproportionately underserved.  Ghana faces some of the worst deficits with 330 million people in the region lacking access to clean water and nearly 590 million people without access to proper sanitation facilities.
