NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 106.7 Lite FM, New York's best variety, and Empire BlueCross BlueShield announced today the second annual Empire BlueCross BlueShield "Health Movement," to promote New Yorkers' healthy behaviors and lifestyles.
Lite FM listeners will be encouraged to sign up for the "Health Movement" online at 1067litefm.com and typing in keywords "Empire Health" or www.1067litefm.com/pages/empire-bcbs. Participants will then track their own exercise activities, including running, biking and walking. The total mileage logged by all participants will contribute to the "Health Movement" across America.
"The Health Movement is a great way to encourage healthy lifestyles for our listeners as well as people across the country. We hope to inspire people to get active and understand the importance of healthy behaviors," said Joe Puglise, President and Market Manager, Clear Channel Radio New York. "We're thrilled to use Lite FM's powerful reach and connection to listeners to spread the word about healthy living."
Lite FM and Empire BlueCross BlueShield will improve the health of communities across the country by encouraging healthy lifestyles. Health tips and videos will be provided from The Biggest Loser's Bob Harper on health and wellness, as well as health calculators and guides to promote the benefits of healthier choices. Participants can also create their own page where they can track their miles and exercise, and have access to tools to get started in the program.
"Seventy-five percent of adults who live in New York City don't exercise regularly, yet just 30 minutes of even moderate physical activity, 4-5 days a week, can literally save your life," said Mark Wagar, President and CEO of Empire BlueCross BlueShield. "We're very pleased to partner with Lite FM to motivate New Yorkers to improve their health and well-being."
One participating individual will be randomly selected to win a personal Skype session with Harper, where he will discuss and assist them with their personal health and wellness goals. In addition, one participating office team will be randomly selected to win a healthy luncheon with 106.7 Lite FM's Rich Kaminski, as well as a nutritionist to assist with health and wellness goals in the workplace.
