The Rainbow PUSH Wall Street Project and the Citizenship Education Fund host the 13th annual gathering of the Wall Street Project Economic Summit. This year's summit, "Targeted Stimulus: A Call to Equity & Parity," focuses on strategies to directly invest in job creation, minority businesses and underserved communities, including those in the Caribbean.




Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., created the Wall Street Project to spur access to capital, industry and technology for minority businesses and communities.  (www.rainbowpush.org – for more information)




Rev. Jackson will also discuss during the press conference:
  • The Foreclosure Crisis: What homeowners can do to halt foreclosures? (Those who are facing foreclosures are asked to come in as there will be bankers and advisors on staff to assist in negotiating and stopping their foreclosures.) And, Modifying Home Loans: Why mortgage-servicing companies must modify existing home loans.
  • Student Loan Defaults: Why are students paying so much in interest for their loans and graduating without jobs.
  • Gov. David Paterson: Will receive an award for his commitment to minority business growth opportunities.
  • The purpose for the 13th Annual Wall Street Project Economic Summit. Agendas will be distributed.

Highlights of the three-day summit will include:


  • Governor David Paterson highlighting his outstanding initiatives to spur economic inclusion for minority firms in New York
  • Secretary Tom Vilsack and his team from the Department of Agriculture will highlight the economic and inclusion initiatives under the jurisdiction of his department – including access to broadband - relevant to small and minority businesses and families.
  • A special plenary with Goldman Sachs will be presented highlighting their recently announced 10,000 Small Business initiative.
  • Representatives from HUD, SBA and civil rights organizations will participate in an economic roundtable focusing on the need for a Stimulus II to create jobs, expand lending to small businesses, and targeting "points of pain" in our communities.  Other components of the Economic Summit will focus on entrepreneurship strategies, a career business expo, and a special youth seminar presented by McDonalds and Macys.
  • At the annual 1000 Churches sessions on Thursday, January 14, ministers, housing agencies and advocates, and banks will discuss the housing foreclosure crisis, and unfold new strategies to engage churches in home foreclosure prevention ministry.
