18 Emmy Experts Give 'Game of Thrones' 2-to-5 Odds to Win Best Drama Series
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- At this Sunday's Emmy Awards, "Game of Thrones" has 2-to-5 odds to rule as Best Drama Series for a second consecutive year, according to 18 experts who make predictions at Penske Media's GoldDerby.com – the pioneering online destination where experts can predict who will win the Emmys, Oscars and other top industry awards.
The tightest race is over Best Drama Actress with Robin Wright ("House of Cards") having 11-to-8 odds over last year's champ Viola Davis ("How to Get Away with Murder") with 17-to-10 odds. Eight experts pick Wright to prevail for the first time: Michael Ausiello (TV Line), Debra Birnbaum (Variety), Tom O'Neil (Gold Derby), Lynette Rice (Entertainment Weekly), Robert Rorke (New York Post), Matt Roush (TV Guide Magazine), Paul Sheehan (Gold Derby) and Anne Thompson (Indiewire).
Two experts pick "The Americans" star Keri Russell (15 to 2 odds): Eric Deggans (NPR) and Ken Tucker (Yahoo). One opts for "Orphan Back" star Tatiana Maslany (14 to 1): Kerr Lordygan (Rotten Tomatoes).
"There is almost as much drama in the race for Best Drama Actor," says Gold Derby editor and founder Tom O'Neil. "Like Robin Wright, her costar Kevin Spacey has never won an Emmy, but now he has decent odds to break through: 7 to 2. However, 'Mr. Robot' star Rami Malek leads with 8-to-11 odds."
