STETTLER, Alberta, Sept. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- With a countless number of vehicles competing in every segment, having a best-in-class feature is quite the feat. So when a vehicle is awarded three best-in-class features, it's a borderline miracle. With best-in-class towing, power and V-6 driving range, the class-winning features of the 2014 Dodge Durango all pertain to aspects that matter most to buyers in this segment, making it one of the best seven-passenger sport utility vehicles around.

The 3.6-liter V-6 engine offers consumers the most bang for their buck. It's the V-6 which takes the class-winning towing capacity at 6,200 pounds. The towing power stems from the engine's 290 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. With superior power, it comes as a bit of a surprise that the 2014 Durango is still able to offer a 25 MPG highway fuel economy rating in the 2WD model. It's an increase from last year and now beats out the fuel economy of the comparable 2014 Chevy Traverse by one MPG in both cycles. Also increased from last year is the V-6 driving range which is up 50 miles for an overall rating of 600 miles. The more powerful HEMI V-8 engine has an output of 360 horsepower and only loses two MPG in the rear-wheel drive model, for a highway fuel economy rating of 23 MPG.

Consumers are sure to enjoy these upgraded fuel economies which are a nine percent increase from last year's models. The raise comes from the eight-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters which come standard even in the base model. Also in the base model is a 5-inch dash-mounted touch screen with available navigation. For consumers looking for something larger, a class-exclusive 8.4 inch touch screen with downloadable apps is available. The upgrade gives consumers the option of making the Durango a WiFi hotspot, and also provides three-dimensional maps. Adding to the screens is a dual 9-inch screen Blu-ray entertainment system which is optional in the rear.

The 2014 Dodge Durango has not been made available yet, but it is expected to go on sale in the near future.
