2016 Tax Roll Certified: Value Soars To Over $159 Billion
ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Each year Orange County Property Appraiser Rick Singh is responsible for fairly and equitably assessing over 447,000 real estate parcels and 60,500 tangible personal property accounts, while applying all applicable exemptions and classifications. On October 14, 2016, Rick Singh certified and delivered the 2016 tax roll, valued at over $159 billion, to the Tax Collector for collection of taxes. This occurs after the Property Appraiser mails the August "Notice of Proposed Property Taxes" or TRIM, and all taxing authorities have adopted their final tax rates at public hearings.
There were 214,875 homestead properties who received the "Save Our Homes" assessment limitation, capping assessed value increases to no more than .7% in 2016. Residents of Orange County should receive their tax bill shortly and can receive a 4% discount if paid in November.
Orange County is ranked 4th highest market value in Florida and is unique in all of the U.S., as no other Property Appraiser must value 7 major theme parks, 14,000 timeshare units, 87,000 hotel rooms, 52,000 condos and over 120,000 apartment units all in the same county.
