Rock and roll showcase to dazzle Washingtonians at January show

WASHINGTON, Dec. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Spotlights and music at the entrance to the Washington Auto Show® will signal to guests what they are about to witness: the hottest party in town.

The largest public show in Washington is also the most entertaining as live music and specialty brews, art and games and, of course, the latest rides roll into the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from January 22-31. Among the highlights are:

The Washington Auto Show's first "Art-of-Motion" exhibit, an avant-garde art experience produced by Automotive Rhythms, the trendsetting urban lifestyle and automotive experience. The cutting-edge live car art display will feature a 6,000-square-foot exhibit of stunning experiential automotive art. Nationally celebrated artist, Demont Pinder aka "Peekaso," will be painting at the art display, and at least 10 manufacturers will exhibit specially commissioned art cars and bikes for the occasion. On Saturday, Jan. 23, from noon to 4 p.m., GM's young designers will style a new Chevrolet sports car in real time for showgoers to experience. Toyota will host an interactive art installation Sunday, Jan. 24, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. with the new RAV4 by Blind Whino SW Arts Club, who will also design the exhibit space.
The Washington Auto Show's legendary Hands-On Contest is back! The hottest reality TV show in town takes place on the show floor as contestants vie for a brand-new Hyundai! Washingtonians will have to physically maintain contact with the vehicle over the course of the show, with only rare 15-minute breaks, for the chance to drive home in a brand new car!
You've heard about self-driving cars, but what are they really all about? The Intelligent Transportation SuperHighway, sponsored by the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, will feature a new exhibit of the latest technologies in automated and connected driving and offer a glimpse of the road ahead.
An evening beer garden will bring the magic and reverie of an outdoor happy hour to the Washington Convention Center. The pavilion will feature music and specialty craft beers including Sam Adams Seasonal brews, Blue Moon, Oktoberfest, Rebel IPA, Leinenkugel's Honey Weiss, Shock Top, LandShark and Redd's Apple Ale. The Washington Regional Alcohol Program will furnish a booth to remind show guests to drink responsibly.
Live music, courtesy of iHeartRadio, will keep the show floor rocking on Wednesday night, Jan. 27, "Young Professionals Night." Washington's rising stars can enjoy discount admission on this evening and, ostensibly, a very large dance floor.
Military Day. On Tuesday, January 26, active-duty and retired military get free admission with proper identification. Among the day's special features, the American Red Cross will bring service dogs trained to assist soldiers with PTSD, consumers can wrap care packages to be sent to combat soldiers and the U.S. Army's DownRange band will perform its signature blend of pop hits in the evening.
A carnival-like atmosphere for kids of all ages! Camp Jeep returns to offer rides along an indoor obstacle course with steep climbs and thrills! And the Family Fun Zone brings beloved children's characters and mascots to meet, greet and take photos with their prized fans. Among them, Simpsons' characters are visiting Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 23-24, and Captain Planet will appear Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 30-31.
