2019 Miss America's Outstanding Teen Crowned in Orlando in Historic Moment

ORLANDO, Fla., July 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- London Hibbs of Texas was crowned 2019 Miss America's Outstanding Teen in a historic moment for the national scholarship competition.

The new Miss America's Outstanding Teen was crowned by outgoing MAOTeen Jessica Baeder, who is the first-ever MAOTeen to accept an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point and was granted a pass from Cadet Basic Training to crown the 2019 Miss America's Outstanding Teen at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando Saturday night.

"MAOTeen has always been about redefining what it means to be a young woman of achievement for the next generation, so this was indeed a crowning moment in our history," said MAOTeen Chair of the Board of Directors Donna Bozarth. "From its very beginnings, MAOTeen has focused on scholastic achievement, healthy living and community involvement. 2019 MAOTeen London Hibbs is the embodiment of these qualities, and we look forward to an exciting year to come."

London accepted the crown on Saturday and a $31,000 scholarship toward her college education provided by The Harris Rosen Foundation and the Orlando Scholarship Organization, Inc. The 17-year-old resides in Tyler, TX. Speaking to audiences about her platform, "Check Yes 4 Life," which encourages teen organ donation registration, Miss America's Outstanding Teen will also act as the official National Teen Goodwill Ambassador for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals.

The first runner-up was Miss Pennsylvania's Outstanding Teen, Cecilia Petrush, who earned a $10,000 scholarship.

Second runner-up honors and a $7,500 scholarship were awarded to Miss Virginia's Outstanding Teen, Emily Kinsey.

Third runner-up and the winner of a $5,000 scholarship was Miss Alabama's Outstanding Teen, Collins McMurray.

The winner of a $2,000 scholarship and fourth runner-up was Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen, Rory Pan.

Miss Rhode Island's Outstanding Teen, Macie Johnson, was the winner of America's Choice, an online competition where viewers were given the opportunity to vote for their favorite Miss America's Outstanding Teen contestant and guarantee the contestant a spot as a semi-finalist and a $1,000 scholarship. She became the 12th semi-finalist to compete in the finals.
