21-Year-Old Entrepreneur Raises $1M to Launch Collaborative To Do List App
New App WeDo Helps Friends, Family & Colleagues Get More Done, Together
LOS ANGELES, July 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- WeDo, the first truly social to do list app, launches publicly today after raising $1M from angel investors.
WeDo has been in private beta since May and has 18,000 signups to date. The app is particularly sticky, with active users daily logging in daily and super users returning up to 28 times a day.
Created by 21-year-old award-winning Mac developer Spencer Shulem and tech entrepreneur Raad Mobrem, the WeDo app enables users to track and complete tasks, receive intelligent reminders, create 'Spaces' to work with multiple sets of people, and message others all from within the app.
After selling his software company Lettuce to Intuit in 2014, Raad was looking for a new problem to solve. An investor encouraged him to meet a young entrepreneur with the potential to do great things. "Within minutes of meeting Spencer, I knew he was different," says Mobrem.
Spencer shared an idea for a to do list app that would help small businesses track employees' productivity. As they talked, Spencer revealed that he suffered from ADHD since he was young, and to do lists were critical in helping him focus. Meanwhile, Raad had tried every to do list app on the market, and none of them succeeded in increasing his productivity long term.
Together they developed a new idea: a universal to do list app that was simple, beautiful, and focused on helping groups get things done together. By building a product that mimics how we deal with tasks in the real world, they created a platform simple enough for personal use, but robust enough for small businesses.
"Our goal is to enable our users to get more done as efficiently as possible and based on our customers' feedback so far, WeDo has helped them increase their productivity immensely," says Shulem.
