DANVILLE, Va., May 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Larry Dickinson of 3F, LLC, captured first place and $15,000 in the area's first joint Virginia and North Carolina Big Launch Challenge organized by The Launch Place and First Flight Venture Center. Second place went to Liz Morris of Sanitation Creations with a cash prize of $12,000.

Keval Mehta of InRFood	InRFood™ is a personalized nutrition platform that alerts, assesses and advises users on the nutrients they consume vs. what they are lacking, by primarily analyzing the ingredients in food and providing real time feedback and analysis through personalized notifications and a google analytics inspired graphical dashboard.
Tim Reynolds and Gretchen Clark of EvapStack	EvapStack is an innovative septic product. It is a wastewater treatment system for residential and small commercial applications. This new system evaporates wastewater generated in households and small commercial establishments by showers, sinks, toilets, dishwashers and washing machines.
Ricky Spero of Rheomics	Rheomics is developing a near-patient blood clotting diagnostic that will improve save lives and reduce the cost of transfusion therapy in trauma patients. This product is based on patented ASAP technology, which is a revolutionary platform for rheometry.

These presenters pitched their technology-related business ideas to a panel of judges yesterday at the Institute for Advanced Learning & Research in Danville.

The top six contenders were selected from a submission of 31 applications. The top 15 semi-finalists were vetted jointly by The Launch Place and First Flight Ventures staff. Six contestants will be selected by The Launch Place's Seed Fund Advisory Board in early May.

The Launch Place's Seed Fund Advisory Board is comprised of individuals who are extensively experienced in technology assessment, commercialization and early-stage investment.
