6waves Lolapps Acquires Chinese Social Gaming Company Smartron5

SAN FRANCISCO and BEIJING, Oct. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 6waves Lolapps, a leading global social and mobile game developer and publisher, today announced its acquisition of Beijing-based social gaming company Smartron5. One of Asia's most talented game development teams, the acquisition marks 6waves Lolapps' continued expansion into the Asian market adding to its existing Hong Kong and Tokyo offices.

The acquisition adds Beijing to 6waves Lolapps' steadily growing list of Global offices which includes the aforementioned three offices in Asia as well as offices in London and San Francisco. 6waves Lolapps' Asian presence now leaps to more than 75 people, expanding the company's overall headcount to more than 170 employees worldwide.

Smartron5's CEO, Gage Galinger will become 6waves Lolapps' Vice President of Content Development and will head up operations for the company in China. Galinger brings deep traditional and social gaming experience from companies including Electronic Arts, Enorbus, Microsoft and Blizzard. The Smartron5 team will be immediately integrated into 6waves Lolapps' global presence and will be focused on product development for the local social and mobile market.

Smartron5, backed by London listed private equity group Origo Partners PLC, focuses on high quality social games with deeper game play experiences for Asian and international social networks. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Both 6waves Lolapps and Smartron5 have a presence at TechCrunch Disrupt Beijing.
