72andSunny Launches In-House Communication School

LOS ANGELES, March 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 72andSunny announced today that they are launching a school called 72U within the company's LA office. 72U is an intensive, one-of-a-kind learning experience designed to open people up to new ways of thinking, collaborating and tackling modern communication problems.

"72U is an extension of who we are," said 72andSunny Co-Founder, John Boiler. "The best creative thinkers are hybrids – fluent in many things. We're having a tough time finding enough of that kind of talent in the existing industry pool to meet our long-term objectives, so we're growing our own."

The Co-Directors of the program are Geoff McGann and Kelly Schoeffel. Geoff is one of the country's top creative educators, with over 20 years experience as a creative director, director, photographer and celebrated advertising instructor at schools including Art Center College of Design. He is also a seven-time international Jiu-Jitsu champion. Kelly is currently a Strategy Director at 72andSunny with tenure at top creative and brand innovation shops including Redscout, Anomaly and Wieden+Kennedy. She boasts a PhD in social psychology from Harvard and a background in guerilla street theatre.

The 72U experience will be a non-traditional amalgamation of real client work, hands-on training and unique group projects. This applied approach will allow participants to explore multiple creative disciplines and cultivate fresh approaches to problem solving. The program will invite participation from top agency talent, C-level executives of 72andSunny clients and members of the creative industry outside of traditional advertising. Unlike most ad programs, 72U aims to recruit and develop a range of creative talents, both within the group and within each individual.
