GLENDALE, N.Y., Oct. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bob Turner, GOP candidate for Congress in New York's 9th CD, said today he is still waiting for incumbent Anthony Weiner to return the call to Turner campaign headquarters to set a date for a joint town hall meeting to discuss issues of concern to the district's voters.

Turner issued the challenge to Weiner recently, and Weiner told a reporter this week that he would "gladly accept the invitation."

"I understand that Congressman Weiner told a reporter that he will accept my challenge to a town hall meeting," Turner said. "Although Congressman Weiner has not returned our phone calls to his congressional campaign office in Manhattan, I am hopeful that he will honor his statement.  I ask Congressman Weiner to formally accept this challenge by setting a date and time."

Turner added: "It is time for Congressman Weiner to stop the political games and focus on the real issues of concern to the district's residents.  Let's meet together with the residents to discuss job creation, taxes, healthcare, the deficit so voters can make informed decisions on who will best represent them in Washington."

Turner has lived his entire life in the neighborhoods of the 9th District. He was raised in Woodhaven as the eldest of three sons, and raised his own family in Richmond Hill. He now resides in Rockaway Point.

He spent 40 years of his career in the highly competitive television industry. His first job was as a clerk for ABC-TV, launching a rewarding career in broadcasting, advertising, TV program production and distribution. As President, CEO or Chairman, Turner has started up and managed companies large and small. While his family life was centered on the Ninth District, Turner's career took him around the globe as he conducted business and formed programming partnerships in places from Tbilisi to Delhi, Manila to Moscow. He is a U.S. Army veteran (1962-64, Rank SP5, Honorable Discharge).
