A 10,000 Donut Salute to #34: Dunkin' Donuts Pays Tribute to David Ortiz with Donut Mosaic
Dunkin' Donuts celebrates Big Papi's final season by presenting his iconic image in donuts; 34 cents from every donut used to be donated to The Greater Boston Food Bank
CANTON, Mass., Oct. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dunkin' Donuts, America's all-day everyday stop for coffee and baked goods, has baked up a big way to honor Big Papi with a sweet celebration of the slugger's career with the Boston Red Sox. In late September, more than 60 Dunkin' Brands volunteers brought 10,000 of the brand's signature donuts to the Rose Kennedy Greenway in downtown Boston to create a larger-than-life mosaic of David Ortiz, one of Boston sports' larger-than-life heroes. Made completely from the 10,000 donuts, the mosaic features Big Papi's iconic pose after crossing home plate, lifting his arms to the sky in celebration. As part of this tribute, Dunkin' Donuts will donate 34 cents from every donut used to create this unique work of art to The Greater Boston Food Bank. The $3,400 will support The Greater Boston Food Bank's work within the local community.

Dunkin' Donuts signed a multi-year partnership with Red Sox Designated hitter David Ortiz in 2014. In September, Dunkin' Donuts introduced the exclusive Ortiz #34 Donut and Cup Koozie, available at participating Dunkin' Donuts locations in New England. Over the course of his sponsorship with the brand, Ortiz joined New England Patriots favorite Rob Gronkowski in their Summer Chill and Gronk and Big Papi's Beach House campaigns as they sang about their mutual love of Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee. Ortiz also supported Dunkin' Donuts' social media campaigns and made appearances on behalf of the brand.
