WASHINGTON, Oct. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Teen Challenge (GTC) announced its pledge of support for the Senate Amendment to H.R. 6, the Opioid Crisis Response Act of 2018. GTC Board Member, Ed DeShields, joined twenty other national and global business leaders at the White House to commit their expertise and organizational resources to help curb the opioid crisis.
Ed DeShields, stated, "For sixty years the Teen Challenge family has saved countless men, women, boys, and girls from their struggle with addiction. Over these years, our network has become the largest addiction recovery provider in the world with, 20,000 long-term residential beds (7,500 in the USA) and over 1,400 long-term residential centers operating in 125 nations. Today, Global Teen Challenge pledged to develop an information system that will gather treatment data from across our network -- measuring the recovery process and identifying programs and practices that are achieving the greatest results."
The Background
Currently, evidence-based, real-world data collected by addiction treatment providers is very limited. Lack of tracking, reporting, and sharing systems means there is virtually no data to validate program outcomes and long-term success rates. As a result, desperate families struggle to evaluate treatment options while concerned stakeholders are unable to identify, fund and scale the most effective programs.
Ability and Scale
GTC is uniquely positioned in terms of scalability and the development of outcome-based technology. In 2017, GTC engaged the Bridgespan Group (incubated at Bain and Company) for a seven-month internal, feasibility study and strategic planning analysis. Their findings concluded:
"Global Teen Challenge has the largest footprint in the addiction recovery space. It uniquely stands alone as an organization capable of scaling to address the global addiction problem."
Technologically-Equipped for Transformational Impact
In partnership with CE Analytics, GTC is developing the first wide-scale, outcome-based technology in the addiction recovery space featuring real world data/evidence standards across a large national footprint. This software is based on standardized assessment criteria, patient management, and anthropological tools that measure, predict, prescribe and track individual patient outcomes.
