A "Waterful" Way to Explore Fort Lauderdale: The District's Waterful Tours Feature Cultural Sites and Water Taxi Pass, May 20 Through Oct. 29

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Exploring Fort Lauderdale's exciting cultural sites is a wonderful outing for both local residents and visitors — and it's an even better experience when traveling via Water Taxi! From May 20–Oct. 29, Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District is offering its Waterful Tours, which includes admission to the guest's choice of two out of three cultural sites (admission to an optional third site is available for a nominal extra charge), and an all-day pass for Water Taxi.
The tours will be available daily for the Water Taxi, Historic Stranahan House Museum and History Museum Fort Lauderdale, beginning as early as 9:30 a.m., when beginning at History Museum Fort Lauderdale. Docent-led tours at History Museum Fort Lauderdale and Historic Stranahan House Museum are available at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. NSU Art Museum is open every day except Monday. Tour prices start at $38 per adult and $20 per child; children aged 5 and under are free. Waterful Tours will be available at this rate only from May 20 through Oct. 29, 2017.

The Waterful Tours include:
- One all-day Water Taxi pass. Guests can leave the traffic and parking behind, and board a Water Taxi to see the city, explore its history, attractions, eateries and shops along the way.
- Admission to two of three cultural sites:
- NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale is the hub of the South Florida Art Coast, nestled in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale. NSU Art Museum's 83,000-square-foot building contains 25,000 square feet of exhibition space, a 256-seat auditorium, Museum Store and Cafe. The museum's celebrated permanent collection contains more than 6,000 works. Among its highlights are the country's largest collection of paintings and drawings by the American realist William Glackens; the most extensive holding in the U.S. of works by post-World War II, avant-garde CoBrA artists; and extensive holdings of works by leading Latin American artists.
- Historic Stranahan House Museum is the oldest surviving structure in Broward County and was built in 1901 as the original trading post for the early pioneers and Seminole Indians. The iconic structure along the New River served as the pioneer settlement's town hall, post office, and first bank. Later it became a boarding house and restaurant. The Stranahan family is credited as being Fort Lauderdale's founding family and the museum offers a glimpse the city's beginning, their legacy, and the historic structure. The House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
- History Museum Fort Lauderdale is the only pioneer village in South Florida with the largest collection of historic buildings in Broward County. It's a great place for adults and children to learn about the history of Fort Lauderdale, and how the city evolved from pioneer times through today. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Historical Society offers a unique glimpse into the past with guided tours conducted in period costumes.

Visitors who would like to enjoy the third attraction can simply present their ticket stub at the chosen cultural site admission desk, and will receive a general admission one-day ticket ($10 for adults and $5 for children aged 6–12).
