Aasi Siddique calls for an overhaul of Cook County

The initiative targets a decade of software fragmentation between the offices of the Assessor, Clerk, and Treasurer that has currently frozen $216 million in property tax distributions to local school districts.

The software delays within the Integrated Property Tax System (IPTS) have also stalled $56 million in refund checks owed to 25,000 area property owners. Siddique, who brings an extensive background in finance, risk management, and military service, is proposing an enterprise-grade cloud data standard to bind these independent offices together and eliminate the multi-agency processing bottlenecks that force school districts to take out high-interest short-term loans to pay teachers.
