WORCESTER, Mass., Nov. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Access Fixtures is a high-performance lighting company based in Worcester, Massachusetts. At Access Fixtures, empowering their customers to make the best decisions possible in regards to lighting projects is a major priority. In order to accomplish this, Access Fixtures understands that laying out common misconceptions about lighting and answering customer questions is paramount. They are constantly improving their web content, making efforts to rewrite old graphics and create new graphics that more closely align with modern lighting advancements. This week, Access Fixtures has released a new infographic which illustrates Kelvin temperatures in commonly used color applications.
"It is important that our customers understand basic elements of lighting," says Access Fixtures CEO Steven Rothschild. "Greater understanding of the science behind LED lighting leads to greater overall product satisfaction."
What is a Kelvin?
Although you may not know what a Kelvin is, you are indirectly exposed to Kelvins in lighting every day. A Kelvin is a measurement of color temperature, which is altogether separate from the color rendering index, or CRI. CRI is the measure of how true-to-life colors are rendered by a light source. Today's LED technology allows for customers to choose Kelvins without sacrificing any color rendering. Due to high demand, Access Fixtures released an easy-to-read Kelvin color guide for common color temperatures of light. At the warmest end of the spectrum is 2200K, which appears as a warm yellow light and is the standard color of high pressure sodium lights. On the coolest end of the common light color spectrum is 6500K, or what Access Fixtures refers to as "Arctic White." Access Fixtures chose the colors illustrated in the graphic based on commonly utilized color temperatures in lighting. Most of the Kelvins featured in the chart are also available upon request in various Access Fixtures luminaires. In addition to this new graphic, Access Fixtures has many other lighting and product infographics available on their website.
