The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, or FWC, mandates that in order to not disturb nesting sea turtles and other beachside wildlife, light fixtures must be 590nm, low to the ground, and shielded. Light emitted at 590 nanometers is invisible to the eyes of turtles and other wildlife, making it less likely to disturb their natural life cycles.
