HOUSTON, Aug. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Acclaim Energy Advisors recently restructured electricity agreements for an aggregation pool of 62 municipal utility districts ("MUDs") to obtain more favorable rates. The restructuring provides the MUDs with immediate budget relief and improved pricing going forward. Each MUD expects to realize annual savings between 10.4% and 13.3% over the next two years and is positioned for even greater savings in the future.
"Our goal is to minimize the costs and risks our clients face acquiring electricity," said John Elder, President and CEO, Acclaim Energy Advisors. "Continuously monitoring the energy market allows us to quickly identify and renegotiate better rates for our clients during limited, low price windows of opportunity."
Elder says there are three keys to making these types of aggregations successful: timely communications; forward-looking leadership within the clients' organization; and retail electric providers willing to partner collaboratively in order to create a winning scenario.
"We've had a long standing relationship with Acclaim Energy and we continue to work with them because of their commitment to their clients and ability to capture value," said Mark Burton, Managing Partner, Municipal Accounts & Consulting, L.P. "This was a challenging project and the savings will have a positive impact for our MUD board clients."
