Accolade Prepares for Continued Growth with Key Executive Appointments

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., Feb. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Accolade, Inc. today announced three appointments to the company's senior management team: Steve Barnes joins Accolade from NRG Energy as chief financial officer; Margery Geers joins from Walgreen's Take Care Health Systems as chief people officer; and Andy Palan joins from CVS Health as chief information officer. Accolade is a technology-enabled healthcare services company dedicated to helping people get the right care while improving their healthcare experience and lowering costs for large businesses.

As chief financial officer, Steve Barnes will lead Accolade's financial strategy and operations. Previously, Steve held the roles of chief financial officer and then president at Energy Plus Holdings, which achieved rapid growth from start-up phase through a successful acquisition by NRG. Post-acquisition, Steve held various general management and leadership roles in business strategy and mergers & acquisitions.  Prior to that, he was managing director and chief financial officer for Novitas Capital. Steve earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his BS in Accounting from Villanova University.

In her role as chief people officer, Margery Geers will spearhead all talent-related functions, ensuring that Accolade continues to be a great place to work as we grow. Prior to Accolade, Margery was the chief people officer at Take Care Health Systems, a Walgreens Family of Companies, where she built and led the HR team, helping scale the organization from 300 to 3,500 employees. Before that, she was senior vice president of human resources for the Healthcare Management Services division of ARAMARK Corp. Margery received her BS in Business Logistics from Pennsylvania State University.

Andy Palan has assumed the role of chief information officer and is responsible for driving the strategy and execution of Accolade's mission-critical applications, big data & analytics capabilities, infrastructure/cloud operations and our information management reporting services. He joins Accolade from CVS Health, where he was vice president of technology – enterprise architecture, engineering & innovation. In this role, Andy was accountable for retail infrastructure operations, leading the design and implementation of a comprehensive enterprise business and web services platform, tech product roadmaps and digital strategy. Prior to his role at CVS Health, Andy was senior director and chief infrastructure architect with Liberty Mutual. He earned his MS in IT Management and Telecommunication Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and his BA in Communications from the University of Missouri.
