AccuFund Introduces the Position Control Module, an Add-On to the Payroll Module in the AccuFund Accounting Suite
Geared Toward Grant-Driven Entities, Position Control Allows Organizations to Track Employees By Position
NEEDHAM, Mass., May 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- AccuFund, Inc., financial operations improvement specialists for nonprofit, municipal and government organizations, today announced the Position Control Module, an add-on to the Payroll Module in the AccuFund Accounting Suite. With this new module, organizations can track employees by position and know which positions are open or have been filled. When an employee enters their time, that information is automatically recorded to their position, enabling the organization to know how much has been expensed to that position.
The Position Control Module offers two levels of use. Level One enables organizations to track whether or not a position is filled, while Level Two records an encumbrance on the funds in a grant or a department to pay for the employee through the end of their contracted payroll time.
Level Two is particularly useful to organizations with grant-driven environments, which need to know exactly how much funding is committed for each grant and what is still available.
"Grant-based organizations need to ensure they aren't under-spending or unaware they have more funds because there is really no one in a position. At the same time, they don't want to over-spend and use funds they've already committed to a position that is funded through that grant," said Peter Stam, president of AccuFund, Inc. Once an organization sets up the positions in Position Control, the module will provide information on the position's status (open or filled), when the funding for it ends, what department it is in, the current payroll cycle and whether the position is salary or hourly.
Users can also track the benefits associated with the position in order to determine the total cost of the position, not just the salary or earnings expense. Users can also see whether a position has been approved for funding and been budgeted, and how much has been expensed to date for a position.
Position Control also provides the history on a position — when it was approved, when it was first expensed and when an employee was assigned to it. A position can have multiple funding sources and an employee can be in more than one position at a time. The module provides the flexibility to add user-definable demographic information as well.

The AccuFund Position Control Module is available in both the Standard and Professional editions of the AccuFund Accounting Suite. The cost is $1,295 or $1,695, depending on the edition purchased.
