More than four decades of trusted Catholic journalism enters a new chapter as EWTN brings its Spanish-language news operation fully into the global EWTN News family
WASHINGTON, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- EWTN Global Catholic Network announced today the rebranding of ACI Prensa as EWTN News Español, bringing one of the most established Spanish-language Catholic news services into the unified global identity of EWTN News and launching its new digital home at EWTNNews.com/es.
Founded in Peru in 1980 and part of the EWTN family since 2014, ACI Prensa has served generations of Spanish-speaking Catholics with trusted reporting on the Church. The rebrand and new platform preserve that journalistic legacy while connecting audiences more closely to EWTN's global news organization through a modern digital platform designed for Spanish-speaking communities across Latin America, the United States, Europe, Africa and beyond.
"This is much more than changing the name on a website," said Juan Andrés Muñoz, Latin America Editor for EWTN News. "For more than four decades, ACI Prensa has reported on the Church and accompanied Spanish-speaking Catholics through defining moments in the life of the universal Church. Becoming EWTN News Español allows us to carry that legacy forward with the strength and global reach of the entire EWTN family behind us. Our name is changing, but our commitment to Truth, to our audience, and to excellent journalism remains the same."
The launch reflects a central principle behind EWTN News' global transformation: a unified global brand does not require identical experiences for every audience. Earlier this year, EWTN News united its news services under a common global identity and launched EWTNNews.com. The Spanish-language rebrand extends that strategy to one of the Network's largest and most-established audiences, many of whom have relied on ACI Prensa's journalism for decades, combining shared technology and editorial resources with an experience tailored to the way Spanish-speaking Catholics engage with media.
"Every Catholic, whatever language they speak, deserves a great digital experience — one that is fast, intuitive and reflects the beauty of our Catholic heritage. We're excited to deliver that to the readers who have been loyal to ACI Prensa for more than four decades," said Sean Graber, President of Digital for EWTN. "Just as important, the new platform gives our journalists quicker access to stories reported by EWTN News teams around the world, so EWTN News Español's audiences get more coverage of the Church's life, delivered faster."
The Spanish language connects hundreds of millions of people across the Americas, Europe, and among growing communities on other continents. Serving this geographically and culturally diverse audience is central to EWTN's identity as a global Catholic network. Spanish-speaking Catholics represent a significant part of the universal Church, from the historic Catholic communities of Latin America and Spain to the growing and evolving Catholic population of the United States.
The award-winning journalists behind EWTN News Español bring decades of experience and expertise in covering the life of the Church, including papal conclaves, World Youth Days, synods, jubilees, International Eucharistic Congresses and the daily realities of Catholic communities throughout the Spanish-speaking world. The new platform offers audiences richer, more accessible journalism and content that accompanies Catholics, as well as those exploring the Catholic faith, wherever they may be on their journey.
Launching on the feast of St. Carlo Acutis, the Italian computer-coding teenager canonized in 2025, EWTN News Español also reflects the Church's continuing call to bring the Gospel into the digital world. The young saint's witness to evangelization through digital media provides a fitting backdrop for a platform dedicated to bringing trusted Catholic journalism and the life of the Church to audiences across today's digital landscape.
"Our hope is that EWTN News, in every language, can become donde todo católico se informa — where every Catholic gets their news," Muñoz said. "We will continue working every day to be worthy of the trust that represents and the responsibility it carries."
