One company is The National Aluminum Company of India (www.nalcoindia.com), the chairman of which has been charged with bribery in India. The other company is Nalco Holding Company (www.nalco.com), based in the United States. The companies are entirely separate and are engaged in fundamentally different businesses. There have been news stories recently about the bribery case in India, which is completely unrelated to the American company and its chairman.

The aluminum company was incorporated in 1981 as a government-owned enterprise in India.  It has trademarked the name Nalco in India.
