Aeon-Destinus Joint Low-Cost Interceptor Proposal Selected for U.S. Army xTech|Apex Intercept Finals

The joint proposal is one of 10 finalists in the Army's Topic 1 category for a complete interceptor round and fire-control solution.

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Aeon and Destinus today announced that their joint proposal, submitted by Aeon, has been selected as one of 10 finalists in Topic 1: Low-Cost Interceptor All Up Round (AUR) and Fire Control of the U.S. Army's xTech|Apex Intercept competition.

The U.S. Army launched xTech|Apex Intercept through its FUZE xTech program, in partnership with the Capability Program Executive for Defensive Fires, to identify lower-cost technologies that can augment the current PATRIOT air and missile defense mission against air-breathing threats, cruise missiles, and close-range and short-range ballistic missiles. The competition is focused on increasing interceptor capacity while reducing the cost of defeating complex and numerous threats.

The Army's published requirements for Topic 1 include integration with the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) and the M903 launch station.

The team brings together Destinus' capabilities in interceptor design and serial production with Aeon's U.S. weapons development, integration, and manufacturing expertise.

Topic 1 finalists are scheduled to demonstrate their solutions to Army and Department of War subject-matter experts and end users in October. The Army plans to select up to three winners in the category by December 31, 2026.
